Preparation of a Cationic AKD Emulsion and its Application in Papermaking
In this paper,self-made quaternary amine cationic polymers as emulsifiers to emulsify AKD wax was studied,and also PAC was used to increase the charge of the emulsion.Factors affecting the properties of AKD emulsion such as emulsifying time,emulsifying temperature,stirring speed and dosage of emulsifiers was discussed.It was found that self-made quaternary amine cationic polymers was used as emulsifiers to emulsify AKD wax,the appropriate emulsifying time was 7min,the appropriate emulsifying temperature was 60℃,the best stirring speed was 20000r/min,and the appropriate dosage of emulsifier was 6％.This kind of AKD emulsion had as high Zeta potential as to 41 mV.The results showed that self-made emulsifier could improve the sizing effect of AKD sizing agent,and the paper made had a higher sizing degree when it was just off paper machine.
