Formation and Stability of Rosin Pickering Emulsions
The emulsion stabilized by colloidal particles without conventional surfactants is known as Picketing emulsion, whichmay reduce or avoid the detrimental effects of surfactant. In this paper, the emulsifying effects of magnesium aluminumhydroxide(MAH)and organic microparticles(OMP)on rosin solution/water system were investigated. It wasdiscovered that MAH favors w/o emulsions while OMP favors o/w emulsions. When the MAH and OMP were used together, different types of rosin emulsion could be obtained by adjusting the relative amount of MAH and OMP.The emulsion stability was enhanced by the co-emulsifying effect of MAH and OMP at suitable addition levels.Generally speaking,OMP reduced while MAH enhanced the emulsion droplet size.Emulsion was stable near the inversion point.
