Study on the Systhesis of Polyvinylamine(PVAm)and its Application in Papermaking
In this paper,polyvinylamide was first prepared by Hofmann degradation of polyacylamide(PAM)and its properties and application as a paper strengthening aid were studied.The results showed that the breaking length of the handsheet increased by 30％,and folding endurance increased by 300％ when adding 0.2％ PVAm with amido degree of 30％～50％.The PVAm had a good dry strengthening effect on bleached softwood pulp,bleached hardwood pulp,deinked pulp and recycled pulp.Secondly,PVAm was used to improve sizing efficiency of alkyl ketene dimer (AKD).When adding 0.1％ dosage of PVAm,the sizing degree of the hand sheets was 11.8s,and it was better than 7.8s obtained with adding 1％ cationic starch(DS: 0.03); When adding 0.5％ dosage of PVAm,the sizing degree increased as high as 72.8s,and the strength of the handsheets was also improved: the ring crush compression index(RTI)was increased by 15 ％and the breaking length increased by 22％.Finally,PVAm was also used as a fixing agent for the stickies in the waste-paper pulp.When the dosage of PVAm was 0.6％,the cationic demand of the pulp filtrate decreased by 80％,and the turbidity decreased by 95％.
