Effect of Xylanase Pretreatment on Hydrogen Peroxide Bleaching of Wheat Straw pulp

In this paper,the influence of xylanase pretreatment of Soda-AQ wheat straw pulp on the efficiency of hydrogen peroxide bleaching was investigated.The results showed that the xylanase pretreatment can improve the efficiency of hydrogen peroxide bleaching.A higher brightness of XP bleached pulp was obtained when a dosage of 2.6-4.3 XU/g pulp was used and pH was not adjusted in the xylanase pretreatment process.FTIR results showed that the lignin structures and hydroxyl groups in the pulp changed during the xylanase pretreatment and peroxide bleaching of Soda-AQ wheat straw pulp.On the other hand,the addition of DTPA during the xylanase pretreatment not only improved the brightness of hydrogen peroxide bleached pulp but also reduced the consumption of hydrogen peroxide.The addition of 0.4% sodium sulfite during the xylanase pretreatment can increase the brightness of bleached pulp and it did not increase the consumption of hydrogen peroxide.
