Optimization of Soda-Anthraquinone Pulping of Yunma No.1 Hemp Hurds and its ECF Bleaching
In this study Yunma No.1 hemp hurds were evaluated as potential raw materials for pulping. For obtaining readily bleachable pulp with acceptable properties, the nearly optimum conditions were: an alkali dosage of 19%,an AQ charge of 0.25%,and raw material-to-liquor of 1:4.5,165 ℃,90 min.The resultant pulp had screened yield of 50.1%,kappa number of 16.0,viscosity of 1095 dm3/kg,and brightness of 40.3%.Subsequently,bleaching sequences with oxygen delignification(O),chlorine dioxide(D),and peroxide(P)were investigated, and the optimum conditions were: alkali charge of 2.0%,90℃,60 min for the O step; chlorine dioxide dosage of 0.7%,70℃,120 min for the D step; hydrogen peroxide charge of 0.7%,0.5% NaOH,2.5% Na2SiO3,0.5% MgSO4,and 0.5% EDTA,65 ℃,60 min for the P step. The resultant bleached pulp had kappa number of 3.8,viscosity of 1031 dm3/kg and brightness of 85.3%.It should be noted that the viscosity loss was only 5.8% during the bleaching process, indicating that the hemp hurd cellulose is superior to many other lignocellulosic materials,in terms of resisting degradation.
