Fiber Morphology and Pulping Properties of Narrow-crown Poplar Aigeiros 11 with Different Ages

The fiber morphology and pulping properties of Narrow-crown Poplar Aigeiros 11 at different age were studied.The results showed tree age had big effects on chemical composition,and extraetives content decreased with tree age,however,holocellulose,lignin and pentosan contents firstly increased with tree age,then slightly decreased after 5 years.Fiber length and coarseness increased with tree age,but coarseness increased little after 5 years.Fines firstly increased with tree age,then decreased after 5 years.The yield and physical properties of chemical pulp increased with tree age;however,tree age has little effect on kappa value of screened pulp.The yield,brightness and physical properties of SCMP and APMP increased with tree age,however,light scattering coefficient and opacity decreased slightly,which was the same as trend of H2O2 bleaching properties of SCMP.The initial beating degree of chemical pulp at lower tree age is higher,but higher tree ages is easy to be beaten.With tree age increased,the pulping properties of Narrow-crown Poplar Aigeiros 11 could be improved.
