Research on Pyrolysis of Lignin Model Compound at Different Temperatures Traced by GC/MS
Since the oil crisis in the mid 1970s,considerable effort has been directed toward development of processes for producing liquid fuels from ligno-ceilulosic biomass.This led to the development of several fast pyrolysis technologies.pyrolysis is an extremely complex process;it generally goes through a series of reactions and can be influenced by many factors.It is thus essential to study the fundamentals of biomass pyrolysis.Because of its complicacy,the research of pyrolysis on each component of biomass is necessary.The recent researches on the pyrolysis of lignin were performed by collecting and analyzing the pyrolysis products of protolignin or separate iignin.However,there are few reports about the research on the pyrolysis approach of lignin at different temperatures.Among each kind of lignin model compounds,the compound of arylgycerol-β-arylether structure has a phenylpropane linkage pattern which is the most important in lignin.The kind of β-O-4 linkage accounted for about 30%~50% in the whole lignin phenypropane unit.In this paper,A β-O-4 type lignin model compound i.e.guaiacylglycerol-β-guaiacyl ether was synthesized.The technique of FT-IR and 1H-NMR were used to identify the chemical structure of the model compounds.After the lignin model compound was synthesized,pyrolysis was carried out at different temperatures.GC/MS was applied to analyze the products.The relationships between products and pyrolysis temperature are discussed.The results indicate that Lignin model compounds were pyrolyzed to low molecular weight material such as guaiacol,4-acetylguaiacol etc.at high temperature(<400℃),while the kinds of pyrolysis products increased at much higher temperature,some low molecular weight material which were formed by cleavage polymerized condensed lignin fragments(>400℃).
