Study on the Structure of Lignin Separated from Kraft Cooking by Carbon-13 Isotopic Tracer Method
In this study, the specifically 13C-enriched lignin precursors,i.e.,coniferin-side chain-α-13C,coniferin-side chain-β-13C,coniferin-side chain-γ-13C,were synthesized and injected into internode cavities of the stalk of growing rice plant (Oryza sativa L.)to obtain 13C-enriched rice stalks. In order to elucidate how the bonds between lignin and carbohydrate were changed in pulping, labeled rice stalks were cooked by kraft method. The obtained kraft lignins were analyzed by 13C-NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy. It was found that β-O-4 units were the main structure of kraft lignin, with minor content of β-β,β-5 and β-1 units.Minor content of benzyl ether bonds and ketal linkage between lignin and carbohydrate were observed.
