Ultrasonic Pretreatment for Fast Liquefaction of Bagasse
Bagasse was subjected to ultrasonic treatment in several dispersing medium and then liquefied in ethylene carbonate. The morphology and microstructure of bagasse were characterized by SEM and XRD.SEM images showed that the morphology of the bagasse fiber had significant change after the pretreatment;XRD also showed that the crystallinity of the fiber slightly decreased. After ultrasonic pretreatment in ethanol for 2 h,the residue rate of the liquefaction decreased from 5% to 0.49%.The hydroxyl number of the liquefaction products increased to 390~490 mg/g from their original value of 220~330 mg/g.The relative molecular weight distributions of the liquefaction products of ultrasonic pretreated bagasses, however, did not show evident changes with or without the ultrasonic treatment.
