Acetic Acid Catalyzed Steam Explosion As Pretreatment For Enzymatic Hydrolysis Of Wheat Straw

Acetic acid calalyzed steam explosion pretreatment was applied to wheat straw under the conditions of 190℃ and 210℃ for temperature and 2,6,10 minutes for residence time.The effects of pretreatment conditions on total gravimetric recovery,hemicellulose-sugar,glucose content,yield of enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose were studied.The results indicated that total gravimetric recovery decreases while solubility of hemicelluiose and enzymatic hydrolysis yield of cellulose increases as the pretreatment severity increases.Pretreatment condition of 190℃temperature and 2 minute residence time resulted in the highest total gravimetric recovery,58.9%.The optimum defiberation,glucose content,and enzymatic hydrolysis yield,70.4% and 79.6%,respectively,occurred under the condition of 210℃ temperature and 10 minute residence time.Optimal pretreatment condition found was 190℃,10minute,which resulted in the highest recovery yield of all sugars.
