Press Fabric Structure and How it Improves Sheet Dryness and Smoothness
The fundamentals of modern press fabric are introduced.Papaermaking requirement for and parameters of the felt are considered to determine the appropriate felt structure for the application.The relationship between the key parameters of press fabric and papermaking process and sheet quality is examined.Felt and sheet contact characteristics are measured by using pressure sensitive film method and quantified for felt performance evaluation.Different types of felts as well as types of batt fibers and base weave structures are explained.Finally,variety of noval types of felts,including seamed felt,and their applications are discussed.
