Experimental Studies of Cavity-Backed Bowtie Antenna with Pattern Improvement
In this paper,a cavity-backed antenna is proposed, and a bowtie exciter with four round corners is employed for wideband operation. The stable radiation patterns of the proposed antenna are achieved by a ring placed between the bowtie exciter and the ground plane. It is fed by a conventional balun (or a transition from microstrip line to a parallel stripline)and shows an impedance bandwidth of 78% for SWR < 2,together with stable and unidirectional radiation patterns along the whole operating band.
