A Novel Design of Circularly Polarized Omni-directional Antenna for Ka Band

This paper presents a novel design of an antenna with an array of slots,radiating circularly polarized conical beam.The structure of the antenna is simple and suitable for mass production. The radiation characteristics such as radiation pattern and directivity are found to be conical beam radiation,which is omni-directional in the circumferential direction. The polarization characteristics are investigated to perform the circularly polarized radiation. At the operation frequency 35GHz,the antenna gets a circularly polarized omni-directional radiation pattern at 0=-77°,the gain is about 1.70-5.08dB,and the axial ratio is less than 3 dB in the azimuthal plane.
