Differentially Fed Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antenna

A differentially fed rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is studied using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The fundamental TE111 mode of the rectangular DRA is excited at 2.4 GHz,with a 10-dB differential impedance bandwidth (|Sdd11|< -10 dB) of ~ 10.4%. To verify the theory,measurements were carried out,and reasonable agreement between theory,and experiment is obtained. The effects of the magnitude and phase imbalances on the DRA impedance and radiation pattern are investigated.
