RESEARCH ON IDENTIFICATION OF SINGLE-PHASE EATTH FAULTS IN ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS
Detecting single-phase to ground fault is a difficult and challenging problem in the non-solidly grounded system. It is important to identify the faulted line quickly and exactly to reduce the time to locate and remove the fault,so that the probability of reclosing permanent fault can be reduced. This paper presents a new method for the detection of single-phase earth faults in electrical distribution networks. The method adopts faulted network and zero-sequence component as fault detection model, based on the lines zero-sequence current and system sequence impedance. It also has the ability to distinguish between a permanent and a transient fault. The simulation results have shown the effectiveness of the algorithm under the condition of earth fault.
