STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF IONOSPHERE ON LIGHTNING RADIATION ELECTROMAGNETIC IMPULSE
Lightning electromagnetic impulse is one of the main electromagnetic interferences(EMI) endangering the reliability of power system and communication network.Lightning protection is based on lightning current characterized by peak value,rise time,maximum rise ratio and so on.The effect of ionosphere on the lightning radiation electromagnetic field is analyzed based on Sommerfeld integral.The ionosphere as perfect conductor layer is Considered.Both the rigorous and simplified formula ofthe lightning radiation magnetic field is derived.Combing the engineer model,the obtained expression is applied to the analysis of lightning radiation magnetic field characteristic.The analysis indicates that the reflections of ionosphere result in multiple peaks in lightning radiation magnetic field.The first peak of the lighting impulse results from the incidence field.While the subsequent ones imply the reflection fields from the ionosphere.Accordingly,the subsequent peaks in the measurement of lightning radiation fields,usually taken as subsequent strokes,may result from the reflection of ionosphere.
