A Video-on-Demand Streaming Service Architecture Based on Hybrid P2P
The Quality of Experience in current P2P VoD streaming systems is unsatisfactory because of the long latencies to search data segments. To address this problem, we propose a Video-on-Demand streaming service architecture based on hybrid P2P—HP2VoD. By arranging the peers that cache the same data segment into a group, and arranging the groups whose segments form an entire program into a ring, HP2VoD promptly finds any media segment and the peers that cache the segment within the ring. Routing tasks are not distributed across all system peers. Analysis and results show HP2VoD effectively addresses the problem of how to quickly search data segments in P2P VoD system supporting VCR controls.
