Modification of the Nicholas Mining Method Selection Technique Using Fuzzy AHP Approach
Suitable mining method selection(MMS) for orebodies is one of the most important steps in mine planning and design. In MMS procedure,to achieve the maximum profit, mining method with best adaptation to orebodies should be determined. In this paper, more effective parameters is added to the Nicholas technique and by using Bucldeys Fuzzy AHP method as a decision making tools,a new approach is proposed for selecting mining method. In this situation,Selection procedure is developed in two stages. First, three suitable mining methods is ranked consider to technical and operational parameters, then these methods are compared based on economical parameters and one of them is chosen by Fuzzy AHP as optimum mining method. Proposed approach is implemented to western part of north anomaly of choghart iron mine of Iran. Caused to technical and economical comparisons, the methodology demonstrated that open pit mining method is optimum method for this orebody.
