Spot Cooling for Working Face Environment Improvement at the Ciurug,Pongkor Gold Mine,PT Antam Tbk.,Indonesia
Ciurug is one of the mine areas in Pongkor Underground Gold Mine,PT Antam Tbk.,Indonesia,which is fully mechanized with cut and fill stoping mining method located at the elevation range of 515-730 m above the sea level. The main problems of Ciurug mine area are the elevated temperature and high relative humidity level at several stopes and working faces for developments,which create the thermally uncomfortable environment to be endured by workers. The dry bulb temperature may reach as high as 30℃ up to 36℃,with the relative humidity in the range of 75 % up to 90 %. The poor thermal environment condition of the working faces may be caused by the heat dissipated by the mine heavy equipment and its hot exhaust gas emission,coupled by its quite long distance to the fresh air intake. The local or spot cooling unit is installed to improve the environment at the dead ends or working faces.
