The Development of the Jinfeng Gold Operation
Sino Guizhou Jinfeng Mining Limited (SGJML) is developing the Jingfeng Mining Operation in a remote area in the Guizhou Province in South West China. The planning and development of this modem open cut and underground gold operations has provided many technical challenges to enable the fine grain refractory gold ore to be economically extracted from this geological complex and geoteehnical challenging orebody. Limited road access,through mountainous terrain,combined with a high rainfall wet season has provided logistical challenges while the establishment of the mine in a remote rural area brings environment,cultural and socio-eeonomie responsibilities which need careful consideration.This paper principally discusses the technical mining aspects of both the open cut and underground operation. However to gain a greater understanding of challenges of SGJML the paper also discusses metallurgical,environmental,logistical,cultural and socio-eeonomical challenges.
