Future post-mining landscape: preconditions and goals
One of the main principles of landscape function renewal is the restablishment of water regime and coherent closed water circulation in the region. There is a presupposition that all residual pits after opencast brown coal mining in North-West Bohemian region will be flooded before 2050/2070.Besides the ecological function, the future lakes will secure also aesthetical, recreational and socio-economical funetious. A range of reclamation activities can be provided already during the mining process, especially in its final phase. The optima terrain shaping is possible as early as during mining and dumping activities, with some adjustations of spreaders technological process. Eight future pit lakes will be part of a rich and various countryside with the re-established natural ecosystem.
