Pushover analysis and application for a continuous rigid frame bridge by considering high order vibrational modes
Basic principle and loading mode of Pushover Analysis Method and the application to bridge engineering are addressed.It is known that the high order vibrational modes can not be neglected in the pushover analysis for the continuous rigid frame bridges with long span and high pier. The bridge design codes in China have not told how to consider the effect of high vibrational modes. A parameter called as the contribution rate of vibrational mode is defined in this work. If the value of contribution rate is great for a certain vibrational mode,this mode should be considered. If not,the mode can be ne-glected. A simplified loading mode with reference to the contribution rate of vibrational mode is then proposed in this work. The pushover analysis for a continuous rigid frame bridge with long span and high pier is performed by application of the proposed loading mode. The mechanical property against the earthquake is evaluated. It is shown that the high order vibrational modes indeed have the pronounced influence on the result. The proposed method can give the reasonable re-sult.
