Failure analysis of risk load on transmission tower
Risk load is one of the important factors impacting the unsafe operation of transmission line. The failure of transmission tower caused by icing is analyzed in the paper. By using of the finite element analysis software ANSYS,instability of transmission tower under heavy icing condition is researched,it is indicated that the longitudinal unbalanced tension caused by asymmetric icing is the main failure factor of the transmission tower. The maximum compressive stress of transmission tower under heavy icing condition and the dangerous point are obtained,which provides a further theoretical basis for strengthened design of transmission tower.
