Fatigue strength assessment for steel casting weld joints

Rudder horn is generally attached to the shell plate by welding. It is an important part of steering systems and may lead to fatigue failure under cyclic loads type. In this study, fatigue strength assessment for casting weld joint had been studied by using fillet weld joint specimens with cast steel and carbon steel. The specimens had been fabricated and tested for four different types of parameters with pre-heating effect, toe grinding effect, bead grinding effect, bead grinding effect and welding position effect.Test results of each type are represented by S-N curves.
