A modified fracture criterion of maximum circumferential normal stress for an interface crack
Propagation criterion of interface crack was a basic criterion in studying the fracture failure of a bimaterial system. A modified fracture criterion of maximum circumferential normal stress (σθmax) for an interface crack was proposed based on the property of the traditional σθmax criterion when ε→0. The proposed criterion,superior to the traditional one,made it possible to determine the crack propagation angle uniquely for an interface crack. The research effort is helpful for further study on the fatigue and fracture propagation of interface crack for the bimaterial system.
