The Removal of Methanol from the Contaminated Dilute Aqueous Solution:Recent Developments and Future Perspective
Due to the big boost of oil price in the global market and the sharp drop on the availability of natural resources, many efforts have been made to develop new substitutes for petroleum.Among which, methanol is regarded as one of the most promising and renewable fuel candidates for gasoline. As a result.both the production and consumption of methanol are significantly increased in recent years. As one of volatile organic compounds(VOCs),methanol has an unfavorable efrect not only on the surroundings, but also on the human body.Consequently.the pollution of methanol from diluted aqueous solution can not be ignored. In view of its bad influence.the objective of this review is to summarize the techniques for the removal of methanol from the contaminated diluted aqueous solution.Present states and future perspective are also discussed.I hope this review can promote to the understanding of the removal and recovery of VOCS from wastewater and make some contributions to environmental protection.
