Photocatalytic Decomposition of MB Solution by CNT/TiO2 Composites Prepared from MWCNT and Titanium Source
In this study,CNT/TiO2 composites were prepared with multi-wailed carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs)and two kinds of titanium source of titanium(IV)n-butoxide(TNB)and titanium tetraisopropoxide(TTIP)by a MCPBA oxidation method. The BET specific surface area was measured for the physical parameter measurement.Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)was employed to observe the surface state and structure of composites. The crystal structure of TiO2 was identified by X-ray diffraction(XRD).For the elemental analysis in the composites, energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDX)was also used.Furthermore, the photocatalytic effect of the C/TiO2 composites were determined by the decomposition reaction of methylene blue(MB,C16H18N3S·Cl·3H2O)in an aqueous solution under UV irradiation.Consequently,it can be considered that the photocatalytic decomposition of MB solution and UV irradiation time could be attributed to combination effects between TiO2 and MWCNTs with plausible photodegradation mechanism.
