Mechanism,Photocatalytic and Bactericidal Effects for the Nanocarbon/TiO2 Composites
Two kinds of nanocarbon/TiO2 composite photocatalysts were synthesized with multi-walled earbon nanotubes(MWCNTs)and fullerene(C60)as nanocarbons sources and titanium(IV)n-butoxide(TNB)as titanium dioxide sources by an MCPBA oxidation method. In the XRD patterns, the structural variation reveled that the C60/TiO2 composite showed the anatase and rutile mixed type and the CNT/TiO2 composite presented only anatase phase. The EDX spec~a were shown the presence as major elements of Ti with strong peaks. From the SEM results, the TiO2 particles regularly dispersed on fullerene surface and some large clusters were found with irregular agglomerate dispersion. But,the sample CNT/TiO2 was shown a homogenous distribution with only individual CNTs covered with TiO2 without any iam-like aggregates between CNTs and TiO2.According to the photocatalytic results, the relationship on the-In(c/c0)of MB solution products as a time function under UV irradiation Was shown Iinearity properties depending on kinetic first-order with excellent photodegradation effect. From the bactericidal effect, the inhibition zone was defined as the arca by halo method and the curves of inactivation of E coli were much more effective for the nanocarbon/TiO2 composites with sunlight than that of any other experimental cases.
