On Non Smooth Contact Dynamics Modelling of Discontinuous Blocky Assemblies

摘要：

1. PreamblePaniculate or blocky assemblies are frequcntly not adequately modelled by a homogenised,continuum description and the discrete nature of the inherent or evolving discontinuities needs to be accounted for. In such analyses, the whole is treated as an assembly of its parts ,comprising multiple bodies, blocks or particles (rigid or deformable), coming potentially into contact as the solution progresses. Bodies considered.can in general be of an arbitrary shape and of an arbitrary level of deformability. The solution evolves in time and is often treated as a dynamic relaxation problem, which may or may not have a steady state solution.
