A MESHLESS METHOD FOR STRESS-WAVE PROPAGATION IN ANISOTROPIC AND CRACKED MEDIA

A meshless algorithm is presented for simulating stress-wave propagation in anisotropic and cracked media.A modified MLS procedure is used to introduce the displacement boundary conditions.The semi-discretized MLPG (Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin) formulations of the elastic-dynamics equations are solved by using the explicit central difference method with a lumped mass matrix.The accuracy of this algorithm is verified by comparing the obtained results with those from the method of characteristic curves.Finally,by introducing a visibility criterion to present cracks and employing the dynamic J0 integral as the dynamic fracture parameter,the diffraction of stress waves around a slanted crack is investigated.
