FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSES OF CRACKED PIEZOELECTRIC STRIP UNDER TENSION

As traditional finite element (FE) methods are used,highly refined elements near the crack tips are necessary to obtain converged electro-elastic field results.To establish fracture criteria of a finite piezoelectric strip with less computing costs,a super comer tip element model is established based on the ad hoc FE eigenanalysis method,then it is incorporated with traditional FE models to calculate the singular stresses and electric displacements near the vertex of crack tips.The electric boundary conditions,such as the impermeable boundary condition and the permeable boundary condition,can be easily realized by adjusting the permittivity of the vacuum.
