ANALYSIS ON EFFECT FACTORS OF SHEARING STRENGTH OF SANDY PEBBLE SOIL IN NORTHWEST OF SICHUAN
Sandy pebble soil is common in the northwest area of Sichuau province in China.Its engineering properties make it popular for foundation construction.The use of direct shear test technology to determine the shear strength index of sandy pebble soil is discussed in this paper because many foundations fail when the shear stress of subsoil reaches its limits.Results show: (1) with improvement in the degree of compaction of the sandy pebble soil shearing strength indexes increase and gain more stability;(2) with its good permeability,there are few changes in shearing strength indexes when the water content of sandy pebble soil increases;and (3) when the diameter of the soil sample is increased,the interlocking force and friction angle also increase.
