EFFECT OF CRACKS ON INTERFACIAL STRESSES IN RC BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH PRE-STRESSED HYBRID FIBRE HEETS
A finite element (FE) analysis model of the interracial layer in reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with pre-stressed hybrid carbon fibre and glass fibre sheets (CFS-GFS) is established.Cracks at different locations in the interfacial layer of concrete are considered in numerical modeling. The FE results show that the strengthening pattern is of excellent interface performance and the strength of the fiber sheet could be effectively utilized. The results also indicate that the interfacial shear and normal stresses in the concrete release at the locations of concrete cracks and reach the maximal value near the concrete cracking. The shear and normal stresses near the interracial adhesive layer increase abruptly, and the cracks in the adhesive layer then appear. The axial stresses of hybrid fiber sheet near the cracks decrease locally at the sites of the concrete cracks.
