CUMULATION OF DAMAGE IN LOW CYCLE FATIGUE AND GIGACYCLE FATIGUE

The paper contains an energy method to estimate cumulation of damage in low cycle fatigue and gigacycle fatigue respectively under uniaxial stress state.The low cycle fatigue damage (LCF) is coming from the plastic deformation which can he calculated by interpretation the hysteresis loop.On the contrary there is not any plastic deformation in gigacycle fatigue.An infrared thermographic technique is applied to monitor the middle part of the specimen surface temperature distribution.The energy dissipated in a unit volume of specimen has some relationship with the mechanics consummation energy.A model is created to calculate the energy according to the evolution of fatigue test in low cycle and gigacycle.The energy of a unit volume and per cycle is calculated out.The comparison of the energy is done in the low cycle and gigacycle regime and a parameter is proposed to estimate the fatigue of damage with respect to integrating energy of cycle in this paper.This method is applied to study the effect of previous low cycle fatigue strain hardening or the gigacycle fatigue damage.
