RESEARCH ON THE INFLUENCE OF SOFTEN-SHAPE ON THE STABILITY OF FAULT BASED ON THE CUSP TYPE CATASTROPHIC HEORY

In this paper a simple horizontal strike-slip model is used to research the stability of the fault with a type of soften constitutive relation based on the cusptype catastrophic theory.From the result,the half of fault offset and remote displacement and energy liberation are all decreases with the stiffness ratio of surrounding-rock and the fault increases.The half of fault offset and the energy liberation decrease with the soften parameter (m) increases and finally reach a stable value,but the soften parameter (m) have little effect on the remote displacement.
