ANALYSES OF STRAIN LOCALIZATION AND MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF MULTILINEAR STRAIN-SOFTENING MATERIALS IN UNIAXIAL TENSION
The analytical solutions of the plastic swain distribution in tensile strain localization zone and post-peak stress-strain relation of a straight bar in uniaxial tension, undergoing linear strain-softening behavior at post-peak,are generalized into the multilinear strain-softening case.If the proper value for the ratio of the plastic modulus that is dependent on the tensile stress level to the width of the tensile strain localization zone is selected, then the post-peak complex mechanical behavior (including snap-back) of quasibrittle materials, such as rock and concrete, can be accurately modeled by the presently generalized mechanical model.
