EXPERIMENTATION, MODELING AND CHARACTERIZATION OF A THREE-DIMENSIONAL WOVEN GLASS FIBER COMPOSITE

Main contribution of this paper is the development of the mechanical model ofcomposite sandwich structures,which are manufactured from a 3D woven fabricconsisting of two face fabrics interconnected by pile yams.The mechanicalbehavior of 3-D glass fiber/epoxy composite was characterized.The 3D fibers werepretreated with ethoxytrimethyl silane coupling agent to improve adhesion betweenfibers and matrix.The composites were numerically modeled to predict theirbehavior under mechanical loads.
