MODELING AND NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF PLAIN WEAVE C/SIC COMPOSITES
A two-dimensional plain weave C/SiC composite is modeled by regarding arepresentative unit cell (RUC),which is developed from actual measurements of towgeometry made on photomicrographs of sectioned laminate.The numericalevaluation of the model is accomplished by means of the finite element method(FEM).A pointwise failure method is presented,and the scattering of the strengthvalues of the fiber bundles and matrix are regarded by using Weibull distribution.Innumerical simulation,the predicted stress-strain curve of tensile loading is in fairlygood agreement with the experimental stress-strain curve.
