ENHANCE MECHANICAL PERFORMANCE OF ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL FLUID BY PATTERNING LECTRODES
Sheared electrorheological (ER) fluid under high electric fields usually slippedon electrodes,and weakened the mechanical performance of ER actuators.Thisfailure was usually ascribed to the detachment of particle chains of ER fluids fromelectrodes.Using electrodes with hole patterns,the slip at the interface of chain endand electrode can be effectively suppressed.The suppression is related with holepattern parameters.The reduced slip at the chain end/electrode interface effectivelyenhanced the ER strength both in shearing and compression.
