RHEOLOGICAL MODEL OF ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL FLUID WITH FRACTIONAL ORDER DERIVATIVE

Electrorheological fluids (or simply ER fluids) belong to a class of smartsoftmatter fluids that respond to an applied electrical field with a dramatic change intheir rheological behavior. An ER test device with double driving discs rotating atthe same speed in the opposite directions has been designed for studying theelectrorheological experiments. For description of such a electrorheological fluid,Anew constitutive relationship model with fractional order gradient is proposed inthis paper, which unifies the methods of fractional calculus model and the classicaltheological model, and makes the physical conceptions of the model clear.Theexperimental results show that the rheological model with fractional orderderivative might be helpful to describe electrorheological charicteristics.
