RESEARCH ON THE INFLUENCE OF SLIP RATE AND SYSTEM STIFFNESS ON FAULT SLIP STABLE
In this paper the spring-block model and the rate-state dependent friction law is adopted to study the effects of slip rate and system stiffness on the fault slipping. The result shows that the system will evolve forward stable state after a short periodical slipping when its stiffness is more than the critical stiffness. When the stiffness is below the critical stiffness, the system is unstable and the track of phase diagram keeps away from stable dot.If the stiffness equals to the critical stiffness, the system shows periodic sliding and the phase diagram forms a limit circle.
