SPRINGBACK BEHAVIOR OF METAL SEALING O-RINGS USED TO PRESSURE VESSEL AND THE SPRINGBACK PREDICTION

Based on a series of tests and elastic-plastic finite element analysis (EPFEA)with contact elements,the springback behavior of O-ring specimens of 60Si2Mn and SS304 at room temperature was investigated.The results show that,in a larger range of flattening ratio d/D for a tube specimen of O-ring where d and D are flattening displacement and outer diameter of the tube respectively,there exists linear relation between the springback ratio H/D and geometric dimension ratio D/t where H and t are springback and the thickness of the specimen respectively.To predict springback of O-ring,a new model named as TSM was presented and its predicting results for the specimens of the two metals have better consistence with the experimental results.
