STRUCTURAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL EVOLUTIONS OF PURE AND ITS SBS-MODIFIED ASPHALT BINDERS IN THE ROCESS OF AGING

In this paper,the chemical and morphological evolutions of pure asphalt AH70 and its styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) modified asphalt PG70 during the laboratory aging were investigated by the Corbett method,Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and atomic force microscopy (AFM),respectively.It was found that with the increase of the component of asphaltenes and degradation of SBS segments,obvious agglomerates of asphaltenes appeared in both asphalt surfaces after aging,but network structures appeared only in PG70 before aging.In addition,relatively smaller agglomerates displayed in PG70 than in AH70 after aging.
