3D FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS ON SiCP/Al COMPOSITE

The volume fraction of the reinforcement in the metal matrix materials plays important role in the mechanical properties of the materials.In this paper,the symmetric unit cell model and multi-particle 3D model containing different volume fraction of SiC particle in SiCp/Al materials were constructed.The tensile tests were simulated through finite element method,and the enhanced mechanism of the materials was analyzed.The results obtained from the two models were compared and discussed.The simulation results show that the elastic modulus and yield strength of the materials are improved greatly with the volume fraction increasing.As the volume fraction of reinforcement is up to 20%,the strength of the metal matrix material increase by almost 10%.The simulation results of the symmetric unit cell model and multi-particle model show great difference.
