MULTISCALE ANALYSIS OF INTERFACIAL SHEARING BEHAVIOR BETWEEN BIOCELLS AND IMPLANT
Understanding adhesion mechanisms of bio-cells surrounded by body fluid with implant materials (e.g.gold) are crucially important to extend the lifespan of implants.A hierarchical sequential multiscale scheme is adopted. This work shows how the interracial shear behavior at nanoscale can be obtained through molecular dynamics by applying constant shear force on the atoms of implant layer. It also shows how the obtained viscosity coefficient can be used for a meso/macroscopic analysis through finite element method to consider surface roughness effects. This multiscale method has the potential to be used in pre-selecting the implant material with high adhesion and bio-compatibility.
