EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL STUDY ON THE MICRO-FORMING OF COPPER MULTI-CRYSTAL
In the micro-forming process,as the quantity of the grains involved in deformation is limited, the material becomes obvious heterogeneous, and the phenomenological elasto-plastic model is not suitable to this case.As a result, the study should be based on the material microstructure and deformation mechanism. This paper implemented a micro-deep drawing experiment with pure copper blanks, which consisting of several grains, investigated the grains deformation feature and drawing force, and then simulated deep drawing process of this kind of material by building a full inhomogeneous polycrysta1line models and developing a material subroutine (VUMAT),which based on crystalline plasticity constitutive. The three-dimensional brick element was adopted to build-up the finite element model, and the contact and friction between the blank and tool were taken into consideration. The simulations has a good agreement with the experiments which show that remarkable earing occurs during the deep drawing of the inhomogeneous material, but the ears are lack of regular pattern.
