MODELING ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER STRUCTURE IN HETEROGENEOUS BIOLOGICAL NANOCHANNELS

A 2D electric double layer (EDL) model for heterogeneous biological nanochannels with arbitrary surface potential is developed.The governing equation is solved analytically and a general solution is presented.Time dependent adsorption kinetics was employed in the model to examine the variation of electric double layer distribution.By comparing the results with that from the classical model,we found that EDL interaction for heavily patched arbitrary surface potential in such biological nanochannels shows much different behaviour from that in general micro or macrochannels.
