The Evolutionary Mechanism of Strategic Alliance: A Differential Learning Model
In recent years, the evolution problem of the strategic alliance has received a great deal of attention. Differential learning between partners is one mare force driving alliance evolution. In this paper, on basis of the bilateral learning behaviors in alliance, we study the evolutionary mechanism caused by the changes of external environment and the difference between partners absorptive capacities, and explain why alliances always evolve to unsuccessful dissolution. We further study the relationship between this difference and the profits distribution in the alliance renegotiation. We finally suggest that only when cooperative partners try to improve their absorptive capacities at all times, can they win the race of learning in the strategic alliance.
