Market Power in China Telecommunication Field
This paper provides empirical evidence on the impact of China telecommunications market exerted on market power. By measuring the price and cost of the whole industry, we are able to control for economic shocks of market power, the market power is estimated by applying extensions of the methodology developed by Lemer. Main findings can be summarized as follows. Firstly, this paper gives an inspiring method to solve the market power based on Lemer index, especially in measuring the price and marginal cost as a whole in telecommunications market. Secondly, it is found the developed areas have lower market power than less-developed in China. Lastly, the marker power gives some effect to China telecommunications market expansion.
