Synergistic Reinforcement of American Old Corrugated Containers Pulp by Cellulase Combined with Laccase/MS System
Reinforcing technology of American Old Corrugated Containers(AOCC)with cellulase combined with laccase/MS(Methyl Syringate)system was studied. The results showed that after laccase and laccase/MS treatment, the dry strength of the pulp had no significant change, while the wet strength improved obviously, and the lacease/MS treated pulp had higher wet strength than laccase treated pulp.In addition, the wet strength of laccase/MS treated pulp increased with the increment of MS charge. When the MS charge was 1.0% (based on bond dry pulp),the laccase/MS treated pulp got best strength properties.Comparing with the control sample, wet tensile strength of pulp was increased by 72% and wet ring crush strength was increased by 55%.Moreover,the effects ofcellulase treatment prior to laccase/MS treatment on pulp properties were also studied. The results showed that after two steps enzymatic treatment, both dry strength and wet strength of pulp increased.Comparing with the control sample, the dry tensile strength of pulp increased from 50.5N·m/g to 57.3 N·m/g,and ring crush strength of pulp increased from 10.4 N·m/g to 12.5 N·m/g.Wet tensile strength of pulp was increased by 91% and wet ring crush strength of pulp was increased by 78%.Finally,the morphology of fiber surface was analyzed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).The result of SEM showed that auto-adhesion of fibers was observed in enzyme treated fibers.
